The Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection SLGH021G is a striking limited edition that captures the breathtaking beauty of Genbi Valley, a celebrated natural landmark in Japan's Iwate Prefecture. Flowing through the region where Grand Seiko's mechanical watches are handcrafted, the valley is renowned for its emerald waters, dramatic rock formations and ever-changing light. These natural colours are beautifully expressed through the watch's vivid textured green dial, creating one of the most distinctive timepieces in the Evolution 9 Collection. Limited to just 1,000 pieces worldwide, this particular watch is individually numbered 0002/1000, making it an exceptionally early example of one of Grand Seiko's most desirable modern limited editions.

A Dial Inspired by Nature

The centrepiece of the SLGH021G is its vibrant light green textured dial, designed to evoke the mysterious waters and layered rock formations of the Genbi Valley. The intricate pressed pattern creates remarkable depth, allowing the dial to transform continuously as the light changes.

Grand Seiko's signature razor-sharp hands and deeply faceted indexes provide exceptional legibility while reflecting light with extraordinary precision. A thermally blued seconds hand adds a subtle yet striking contrast, enhancing the dial's natural colour palette.

Evolution 9 Design

The SLGH021G follows Grand Seiko's Evolution 9 Style, a modern interpretation of the iconic Grand Seiko design language established in 1967. Every detail has been refined to improve comfort, balance and readability while preserving the brand's unmistakable aesthetic.

Measuring 40mm in diameter and only 11.7mm thick, the case features broad Zaratsu-polished surfaces alongside fine hairline brushing, creating dramatic reflections that highlight Grand Seiko's renowned finishing techniques.

Hi-Beat Calibre 9SA5

Powering the SLGH021G is the exceptional Grand Seiko Calibre 9SA5, one of the most advanced mechanical movements ever developed by the brand.

This revolutionary movement features:

  • Hi-Beat 36,000 automatic movement
  • Approx. 80-hour power reserve
  • Grand Seiko Dual Impulse Escapement
  • Twin-barrel architecture
  • Free-sprung balance
  • Automatic and manual winding
  • Grand Seiko adjusted accuracy of +5 to -3 seconds per day
  • Typical wearing accuracy of +8 to -1 seconds per day

The innovative Dual Impulse Escapement significantly improves energy efficiency, allowing the movement to achieve an outstanding five-day power reserve while maintaining the stability expected of a high-frequency calibre.

Ever-Brilliant Steel

The SLGH021G is the first Evolution 9 model to be crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, Grand Seiko's proprietary stainless steel alloy.

Offering approximately 1.7 times greater corrosion resistance than conventional stainless steel, Ever-Brilliant Steel also possesses a noticeably brighter white appearance. This beautifully complements the vivid green dial while enhancing the brilliance of Grand Seiko's famous Zaratsu polishing.

Built for Everyday Excellence

The watch combines exceptional finishing with genuine everyday practicality. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while a screw-down crown and 100 metres of water resistance ensure confidence in daily wear.

The Ever-Brilliant Steel bracelet is fitted with a three-fold clasp featuring a push-button release, delivering outstanding comfort and security. An exhibition sapphire case back reveals the beautifully finished Calibre 9SA5 and is individually engraved with the limited edition number.

A Modern Grand Seiko Collectable

The SLGH021G represents everything that defines modern Grand Seiko: technical innovation, exceptional craftsmanship and profound inspiration drawn from the natural beauty of Japan.

Its vibrant green dial, revolutionary Hi-Beat movement and limited production make it one of the most distinctive and collectable references within the Evolution 9 Collection.
