| Founded in Paris in 1837, the Maison Hermès acquired its reputation for excellence in the crafting of harnesses for carriage horses. In the early 20th century, it extended its leather-making expertise to accessories such as belts, jackets and bags. |
 |
In 1928, the first watches bearing the Hermès signature were presented at 24, Faubourg Saint-Honoré. For over 50 years, Hermès created “guardians of time” in cooperation with the greatest names in Swiss watchmaking.
In 1978, Hermès founded La Montre Hermès S.A, a subsidiary of Hermès International. It operates a production facility in Biel, Switzerland

| While many watch models are inspired by the equestrian world, such as Dressage or Arceau, others stem from the Hermès universe. Such is the case with the H-Hour that plays with the Hermès initial, or the Cape Cod echoing the link of the anchor chain bracelet, which has become an iconic watch model with its double wrap-around strap invented by Hermès. |

In autumn 2006, Hermès transferred its exotic leather strap-making workshops from Paris to Biel and acquired a 25% share in the capital of Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, a mechanical movement manufacturer.
The year 2008 has brought another major milestone in the history of La Montre Hermès, with the presentation of the H1 movement which is exclusive to Hermès and now powers certain Cape Cod and Clipper models. |
